Job Summary

Responsible for assisting physicians and/or nurse practitioners with exceptional patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks. Responsible for patient flow, appointment scheduling and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive and professional image of the clinic.

Job Responsibilities
  • Creates a caring, compassionate and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at Savannah OBGYN.
  • Controls patient flow in clinic for physician or other clinical staff. Emphasis placed on patient satisfaction.
  • Prepare patient charts for appointments and send test results to be scanned into chart and files procedures to ensure chart is complete in EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and special procedures. Obtains and records vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature). Interviews patients to identify current medical needs and relevant patient history.
  • Document findings in medical records.
  • Document patient care observation and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
  • Perform clinical duties as assigned by Nurse or Physician. Assists provider with examination of patient, treatment, special tests, and procedures.
  • Provide approved patient education materials upon direction of provider.
  • Assist patients in setting self/management goals that support healthy behaviors.
  • Generate reports/lists and proactively remind patients/families of services needed (flu shot, wellness screenings, labs, etc.).
  • Assist with patient plans of care and document care coordination and interventions while integrating MCQA, PCMH, MACRA, PIQ, HEDIS measures and other accrediting body requirements to demonstrate results and show quality improvement in patients.
  • Assist with patient inquiries/concerns regarding medical care, medication instructions, and prescription call‑ins in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with pharmacies.
  • Schedule lab work, specialty visits, completes necessary paperwork to ensure proper billing, and completes physician orders. Verify and update patient data. Assist patients with completion of paperwork, as required.
  • Timely and accurately maintains required reports, logs, and records.
  • Coordinate care with hospital per provider's order.
  • Obtain discharge summaries if needed from the hospital and other facilities as needed for coordination of care.
  • Maintain clean work areas throughout practice site; observes safety guidelines as established by Supervisor or Physician. Prepares patient care area, keep exam rooms well‑stocked daily.
  • Answer and respond promptly and professionally to patient telephone inquiries.
  • Administer immunizations and injections after reviewing immunization records, potential allergic reactions, identifies and reviews side effects and treatments. Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, specimen collection/preparation/testing and other lab functions as requested.
  • Communicate with and assist physicians, patients, and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Performs or assists with other clinical or non‑clinical duties as assigned by Supervisor. Assists in other physician/nurse areas as assigned by supervisor.
  • Report to working on a timely, regular and consistent basis.
  • Must demonstrate current competencies application to job position.

Qualifications
  • Medical administrative support
  • Basic life support certification
  • Experience in patient care and observation
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
  • Ability to perform intake procedures and record vital signs
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting, especially in OB/GYN
  • Premium skills in women's health, dermatology, hospital medicine, and urgent care

Job Type: Full‑time

Pay:
Commensurate with Experience

Expected hours: 40 per week
