Position: CT/x-ray Technologist - Full Time - Evening Shift

CT/X-ray Technologist – Full Time – Evening Shift

Valley Health is looking for a CT/X-ray Technologist to perform computed tomography (CT), general radiology, and fluoroscopy, including portable procedures, for patients of all ages. This full‑time position requires rotating weekends, shifts, holidays, overtime, and on‑call as needed to provide 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs accurate CT procedures according to protocol, using optimal techniques and parameters to produce quality images for patients of all ages.
  • Performs exam segmentation for PACS archive.
  • Ensures correct patient positioning, prepares equipment, monitors patient condition before, during, and after scanning.
  • Adjusts positioning, slice thickness, and intravenous contrast administration as needed.
  • Explains procedures to patients, gathers pertinent information, and confirms data with the patient using the contrast questionnaire.
  • Performs contrast injections as ordered by physician and reports critical findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists physicians with invasive procedures as necessary.
  • Accurately enters data into the HIS system and uses the RIS to capture visit and charge information.
  • Adheres to radiation safety measures and infection control policies, ensuring safety of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Assembles forms, clinical information, and paperwork for physician interpretation.
  • Coordinates transportation arrangements for patients as needed.
  • Supervises radiography students in clinical setting, assisting with positioning, anatomy, pathology, radiographic principles, and patient care.
  • Communicates with manager or department director about productivity or performance improvements.
  • Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Pulls files for upcoming exams as needed.
Education

Completion of an AMA accredited Radiology Technology program required.

Experience
  • 1 year staff radiologic technologist preferred.
  • 1 year clinical experience as a CT technologist or dedicated clinical rotation in a hospital setting preferred.
Certification & Licensure
  • ARRT (R) registered required.
  • ARRT (CT) registry certification required within 2 years of hire.
  • West Virginia Radiologic Technologist license required for those working in the state of West Virginia.
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Health Care Provider (HCP) – AHA approved required.
  • All agency and non-hospital-based applicants must submit a Virginia Radiologic Technologist license application prior to hire and obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of human growth, development, and cross‑sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Competence in providing radiologic services for patients of all ages.
  • Proficiency with computer technology.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with physicians, peers, and patients.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic radiography, fluoroscopy, and portable radiography examinations.
  • High accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Experience working with radiography students of varying skill levels.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to operate CT scan equipment with attention to detail.
  • Must be available for on‑call rotation and call‑back to the hospital.
  • Must work weekends/holidays and be available for all shifts as needed.
