Pre-Kindergarten (4YO) – Savannah Classical Academy SY 26-27

Savannah-Chatham County Schools – Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) is a locally authorized K‑12 public charter school that operates independently from the county school system.

We are adding a second Pre‑K class of 20 four‑year‑old students. The teacher will be supported by a full‑time teaching assistant.

Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the United States.

Primary Function

Teachers are members of the CEO’s instructional team and are responsible for duties related to academic programs and operational practices.

General Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare students to be ready for entry into SCA’s Kindergarten program.
  • Use available technology to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and extra‑curricular/school‑related activities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate conscientious and responsible behavior.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the CEO.
  • Follow professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Facilitate home‑school communication through communication folders, scheduling conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching:
    • Model correct use of language, oral and written.
    • Demonstrate accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.
    • Implement designated curriculum and grade‑level standards.
    • Assign instructional tasks and homework to students.
    • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements
  • Education:

    Degree from an accredited college or university with teaching certification. Certified or eligible to be certified as a Georgia teacher in the related content area.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Physical and Sensory Demands

Office:
Employees are normally exposed to a typical environment. The employee has some control over the length of time sitting, standing, or ambulating. Occasional lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies, bending, stooping, or stretching. Frequent use of computers, telephone, and standard office equipment. Few exceptional physical or sensory demands.
