Reports To: President/CEO, The Matthew Reardon Center for Autism, Inc.
Position OverviewThe Education Director at the Matthew Reardon Center for Autism is a key leadership position responsible for advancing the mission of the organization through the delivery of high-quality educational services and the continuous support of clinical practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative
- Takes to heart our mission to serve and assist special needs children and families.
- Follow Policy & Procedures to evaluate admissions applications; schedule, coordinate, and attend direct observations; make admissions decisions;
- Function as primary facilitator to collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff in development and implementation of IEP & BIP goals;
- Interview and hire candidates for classroom teacher, assistant teacher, and substitute teacher.
- Coordinate college intern/practicum student placements and supervise interns;
- Conduct intakes by phone and meet with interested parents and family members of potential students;
- Oversee coordination of classroom and therapy schedules;
- Conduct presentations and trainings to various populations, including parent and family training for students’ families;
- Assist in developing and enforcing school-related Policies, Procedures, and Protocols;
- Assist in school budget preparation and management, program planning, etc.
- Report on school and student outcomes
- Collaborate with MRCA President to envision and mold the organization’s future.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school;
- Oversee, monitor and ensure the quality of instruction and curriculum designs;
- Oversee student progress and assessment;
- Monitor and interpret data collected and acquisition techniques, guiding timely modifications to IEPs and BIPs, as indicated;
- Conduct weekly/bi-weekly teaching team meetings;
- Other duties, as needed.
- Knowledge and experience with IEP development and implementation;
- Ability to be creative in developing programs and working with children with ASD;
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels;
- Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver;
- Ability to work effectively with various technology including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, internet-based databases, etc.;
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field;
- Current Georgia Teaching Certification (or eligibility) preferred.
- Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience working with individuals with autism and related disabilities.
- Minimum of two years training Special Ed. Teachers;
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Proven effectiveness with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment;
