Elementary Teacher - Savannah Classical Academy

Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the United States.

Savannah Classical Academy Charter School is a locally authorized K-12 public charter school and operates autonomously from the county school system. SCA is growing; we are adding more K-5 sections.

Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) is seeking highly skilled candidates for this position. Ideally, employment would begin this school year and continue with the instructional team through the remainder of the year to ensure a smooth transition to the  school year.

Primary Function

Teachers are members of the CEO's instructional team and are responsible for duties related to academic programs and operational practices.

General Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare students to be ready for the next grade.
  • Use available technology to enhance the students' learning experiences.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the CEO.
  • Follow professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Facilitate home-school communication by such means as a communication folder, scheduling conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching:
    • Model correct use of language, oral and written
    • Demonstrate accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content
    • Implement designated curriculum and grade level standards
    • Assign instructional tasks and homework to students
    • Take precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities

Requirements
  • Education Level: Degree from an accredited college or university with teaching certification. Certified or eligible to be certified as a Georgia teacher in the related content area.
