Job SummaryIn this position students will assist the Center for Career and Leadership Development (CCLD) career advisors with marketing and outreach efforts. The goal of this position is to increase student and community knowledge and awareness of the services provided at the CCLD by promoting and communicating those services through a variety of platforms.
Responsibilities- Lead digital communication by managing social media calendar and posts to promote events, career and leadership education topics, and communicate other CCLD activities.
- Develop content for newsletters, flyers, and promotional handouts for student outreach using Canva and other professional design platforms.
- Manage regular communication with students to promote the use of Handshake and other career platforms used by the department.
- Manage promotional campaigns related to the CCLD that include, but are not limited to career fairs, Handshake, general Career Development usage, the career outcomes survey, the Professional Clothing Closet, and student leadership programs as needed.
- Represent the department by setting up promotional tables and outreach to students
- Assist with office operations (e.g., answering phone calls, assisting walk-ins, etc.) as needed as well as communicating professionally and effectively with clients and staff in both oral and written forms about Handshake, interviewing, professional attire, career fair prep, Linked In, job search, and other services.
- Assist the Director of the Center for Career and Leadership Development and staff with other tasks as needed
- Must be currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours during the semester of employment
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Experience with and knowledge of computers and software programs including Canva, Adobe, and social media sites including Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
- Oral and written communication skills
- Critical and creative thinking skills
- Attention to detail
- Majoring in marketing, media and communication, English, or other communication area
- Knowledge in marketing, design, and outreach principles
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures
- Customer service experience for outreach to students
