Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. Job Summary

This position is responsible for directing the provision of services to students with temporary and permanent accessibility issues.

Responsibilities Accessibility Duties and Responsibilities (65%)
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of Accessibility Services offices on the five campuses of Middle Georgia State College.
  • Oversee all academic and non-academic accommodations in the classroom and online at Middle Georgia College.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Provides students with academic, career and personal counseling.
  • Recommends, develops and implements new policies and procedures.
  • Investigates problems, situations and complaints related to accessibility services and mobility issues on campus.
Administrative Duties (25%)
  • Assesses students' psycho-educational reports in order to determine academic assistance needs.
  • Maintains records of student sessions.
  • Provides developmental counseling, consultation and support programs for students with accessibility services.
  • Maintains the Accessibility Services Web site.
  • Implements and coordinates training and development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Prepares annual reports to the Board of Regents.
  • Administers budgeted funds; processes invoices.
Student Advocacy (10%)
  • Provides emergency assistance to students as needed.
  • Provides appropriate community referrals to students, faculty and other college personnel.
  • Supports students with the evaluation of admission withdrawals, deferrals and transfers.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Required Qualifications
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Required Experience
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accessibility services in the context of higher education.
  • Knowledge of University System of Georgia Board of Regents policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to accessibility (disability) services.
  • Knowledge of budget management principles.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.

    Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
