DescriptionNOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Engineering Technician (CMT) to join our growing Transportation team in the Savannah, GA metro area. This role supports GDOT roadway and structure construction projects by performing inspections and ensuring compliance with contract specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect roadways and structures during construction for compliance with ASTM and GDOT standards and project specifications.
- Perform routine and moderately complex inspections of asphalt, concrete, and structural components.
- Verify proper placement of culverts, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and concrete.
- Monitor traffic control and erosion control devices for compliance.
- Document field measurements, prepare daily reports, and assist with pay estimates.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and inspection procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 6 months of progressive transportation technician or construction experience or equivalent combination of training and related experience preferred (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Skilled in basic math and computer applications (MS Office).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
Certifications:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1
- GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification. (Certifications from other states may be considered; training and certification reimbursement available.)
