Construction Superintendent

Under the supervision of the Senior Construction Project Manager, you

* Perform general construction inspections and oversee County construction and renovation projects.

* Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and tradespersons.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the department and County personnel, contractors, subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, AHJ's, temporary employees, and the public.

* Read and interpret plans and specifications including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecom, and low voltage.

* Read and interpret contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, Architect's Supplemental Instructions, and change orders.

* Utilize basic knowledge of Federal, State, and County regulations, building codes, ADA guidelines, construction principles and procedures, and safety policies and procedures.

* Inspect work to ensure compliance with project contract documents, plans, and specifications.

* Keep your immediate supervisor and designated others updated and informed concerning work progress, including any potential issues.

* Recognize construction flaws and provide suggestions for new or improved ways to address construction issues.

* Attend/hold job site construction progress meetings and generate and maintain daily construction reports, logs, and project punch lists.

* Review and approve laboratory test results, contractor invoices, pay requests, change orders, as-builts, and close-out documents.

* Write scopes of work, supervise, monitor, generate punch list, and approve invoices for smaller projects.

* Work both on-site and in the office to perform duties.

* Supervise multiple sites.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* High School Diploma or GED, and

* At least five (5) years of Commercial Construction Superintendent or Construction Management experience; or

* An equivalent combination of training and experience.

* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

* Must be able to work in various terrains and weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in construction or a related field.
