* Provides primary administrative support for Chatham County Public Works, including drafting correspondence, creating reports, and maintaining departmental records.

* Prepares letters, minutes, reports, notices, resolutions, budgets, requisitions, and other documents, including confidential material.

* Maintains and updates personnel files and completes and processes documentation for personnel changes.

* Answers telephone calls, greets visitors, screens communications, and refers inquiries to the appropriate personnel.

* Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail as needed.

* Requisition s office supplies and materials and maintains inventory for departmental needs.

* Copies, packages, and distributes a variety of written materials.

* Performs payroll functions, including timekeeping data entry, validation, and payroll submission.

* Assists with departmental budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting.

* Processes accounts payable and/or receivable in accordance with County financial procedures.

* Prepares specialized and statistical reports for departmental planning, policy development, and evaluation of programs.

* May provide basic computer support to staff, including troubleshooting, user guidance, and software instruction.

* Coordinates travel arrangements for departmental personnel and processes related documentation.

* Serves as liaison between the department and citizens, external agencies, and vendors.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* High School Diploma or GED, and

* At least two (2) years of experience performing administrative support, clerical, or office coordination duties in a similar setting; or

* Any equivalent combination of training and experience

* Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete clerical testing during the interview process.
