About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in inventory-heavy or manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of hands-on accounting experience supporting production, inventory costing, and operational reporting. This person will work onsite in our Savannah facility and partner closely with operations, purchasing, and production teams to ensure accurate financial records, inventory valuation, and timely month-end close.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain day-to-day accounting functions: AP, AR, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Manage inventory accounting and controls: cycle count support, reconciliation of physical counts to perpetual inventory, investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Maintain and audit inventory valuation methodologies (FIFO, weighted average, standard cost), perform inventory costing calculations and adjust as needed.
  • Prepare cost of goods sold (COGS) analyses and gross margin reporting; support product margin and cost variance analysis.
  • Implement and document accounting policies and internal controls specific to manufacturing and inventory processes.
  • Partner with production, purchasing and warehouse teams on transactions that impact inventory and financials (receipts, transfers, scrap, work-in-progress).
  • Prepare or assist with inventory forecasting, slow-moving/obsolescence analysis and reserves.
  • Support fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals when required.
  • Assist with budgeting and month-to-month financial forecasting as it relates to manufacturing cost drivers.
  • Provide supporting documentation and responses for internal and external audits.
  • Support Net Suite transactions and reconciliations if applicable; collaborate with ERP administrators on process improvements and data integrity (Net Suite experience a plus).
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and improve inventory accuracy.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience in inventory-heavy, manufacturing, distribution, or production environments.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting concepts (perpetual inventory systems, costing methods, WIP, scrap, cycle counts).
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) and comfortable manipulating large datasets.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Savannah, GA (required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Net Suite (accounting modules, inventory management, saved searches) — nice to have.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems or inventory management software.
  • Familiarity with GAAP accounting standards and experience supporting audits.
  • Experience with process improvement, automation, or ERP implementations.
Working Conditions
  • Onsite role in a manufacturing facility; may require periodic time on the production floor and in warehouse areas.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move light boxes or documents (typical accounting role physical demands).
  • Standard business hours with occasional extended hours at month-end or during audits.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary up to $90,000 based on experience and fit.
  • Benefits package (medical, dental, vision, paid time off) — details provided during interview process.
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact in a growing manufacturing operation.
  • Collaborative team environment with professional development opportunities.
