Event & Field Supervisor; Summer Seasonal

Overview

Required This is a non-exempt supervisory position which serves as a liaison between city staff and the parks and recreation facility users throughout the City of Savage. Supervisory skills are a requirement, in addition to excellent customer service. The Event and Field Supervisor is required to perform all tasks necessary to assist clients that are utilizing the facility and to ensure the facility is properly maintained.

Emphasis in the area of:

• Park Facility Reservations - Works with rental groups, as needed, with check-in/check-out during rental, and resolves any onsite issues. Provides assistance with set-up/take down of equipment as required.
• Athletic Fields - Provides support as needed during designated games and tournaments.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $19.57/hour - $21.17/hour

• Open and close the Savage Community Park Softball complex and other recreation facilities as scheduled.
• Supervise the activities within the parks, including league play, and ensures a clean, safe and well-maintained environment.
• Works independently with customers on behalf of the city; communicates renters, vendors and park users as appropriate to ensure facilities can be effectively utilized; resolves escalated issues promptly.
• Check in and monitor park shelter reservations at local parks.
• Perform light maintenance including but not limited to; athletic field preparation, picking up litter, garbage pickup as needed.
• Assist in filling out Accident/Injury reports.
• Enforces park rules, regulations, ordinances, lighting regulations, ballfield usage schedules and general use of park amenities.
• Supervise usage of community fields by athletic associations and other user groups.
• Determines and makes operational decisions when appropriate and provides work direction to seasonal staff as required or directed by Recreation Supervisor.
• Monitor weather conditions and make decisions for cancellation of programs as appropriate.

While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees may be called upon to perform a variety of duties in their roles with the City of Savage.

• High school graduation or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
