Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee daily transportation plans to ensure efficient routing and timely deliveries.
  • Allocate drivers and equipment based on service requirements, route demands, and vehicle capacity.
  • Coordinate dispatch operations and track driver progress to maintain schedule compliance.
  • Manage company fleet operations, ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to reduce downtime and extend fleet lifespan.
  • Analyze fuel consumption, mileage, and operational data to improve overall fleet efficiency.
  • Lead and support drivers, dispatchers, and loading personnel through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Facilitate ongoing driver training focused on safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address performance concerns with appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and industry safety standards.
  • Perform safety audits and investigate accidents or incidents, implementing corrective and preventative measures.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Monitor service performance metrics including on-time delivery, driver productivity, and fleet utilization.
  • Prepare operational reports and use data analysis to drive continuous improvement and cost control initiatives.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in transportation or fleet operations with supervisory responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, compliance requirements, and transportation safety standards.
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules based on operational needs.
