Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking an IML Process Technician / Operator I to join the Production Team based out of Sauk Village, IL. The IML Process Technician / Operator I is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operation, setup, and processing of one or more injection molding machines within the Injection Molding Department. This position runs injection molding machines, performs machine startups, performs quality checks, and supports In-Mold Labeling (IML) automation.
Experience with thin-wall injection molded food packaging is strongly preferred. Additional responsibilities include providing operational coverage for department staff as required.
- Understands, follows, and supports all established safety, health, quality, GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
- Start up molding machines and verify proper operation.
- Troubleshoot nonconforming parts and basic process or equipment issues.
- Diagnose and resolve routine molding equipment and process concerns.
- Assist with IML automation setup, startup, and label changes.
- Participate in tooling, resin, and colorant sampling activities.
- Perform cup quality checks.
- Support and promote a continuous improvement culture.
- Provide break coverage for department staff as required.
- Participate in special projects or cross-functional support as assigned.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Support mold changes and tooling work with an IML Process Tech II.
- Working knowledge of mold setup and startup procedures.
- Working knowledge of injection tooling components, including hot runner systems.
- Processing experience with thin-wall food packaging.
- In-Mold Labeling (IML) setup and startup experience preferred.
- Stack mold installation and setup experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality responsibilities.
- Minimum of 2 years of injection molding processing experience with high-speed equipment.
- Preferred experience with manufacturing thin-wall packaging.
- Ability to understand written and spoken English.
- Basic math and computer skills required.
- Approximately 90% manufacturing floor, 10% office environment.
- Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, machinery, and temperature variations.

- Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs
- Walking/standing approximately 8 hours per day.
- Climbing stairs rarely, climbing ladders occasionally.
- Bending/stooping occasionally.
- Kneeling, crawling rarely.
- Ability to use tooling and machinery.
- Computer usage (keyboard and mouse).
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary. The range is $32.00-$40.71.
