Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in fenestration system windows, doors, curtain walls, and related components. This role is ideal for someone who consistently delivers exceptional results, demonstrates leadership qualities, and is passionate about designing innovative, high-performance building envelope solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Development:
Engineer and refine fenestration components and assemblies (frames, sashes, hardware, seals) using CAD tools (Solid Works or equivalent). - Performance Optimization:
Develop solutions that meet structural, thermal, and air/water infiltration requirements per industry standards (AAMA, ASTM, NFRC). - Analysis:
Perform tolerance analysis, stress calculations, and material selection for aluminum and glass systems. - Collaboration:
Work closely with cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, testing, quality, and installation) to ensure seamless integration and compliance. - Documentation:
Prepare detailed drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications aligned with fenestration standards and building codes. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance product performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. - Project Ownership:
Manage projects from concept through production, ensuring timelines, certification requirements, and quality standards are met.
- Deliver 98% of assigned design projects within specification.
- Achieve compliance with all applicable standards on first submission for 98% of projects.
- Complete all required analyses within project timelines with zero critical errors.
- Maintain a 90%+ positive feedback score from internal stakeholders on collaboration effectiveness.
- Ensure 98% accuracy in documentation with less than 2% revision requests post‑submission.
- Propose at least 3 cost‑saving or performance‑improvement initiatives per year.
- Deliver 95% of projects within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. - Experience:
5+ years in mechanical design, preferably in fenestration, building products, or architectural systems. - Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes (extrusion, fabrication, glazing).
- Familiarity with FEA, thermal simulation, and structural analysis tools.
- Knowledge of AAMA, ASTM, and NFRC standards.
- Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Self‑driven, detail‑oriented, and results‑focused.
