Reservoir Engineer

Overview

To conduct various reservoir engineering programmes for Khafji B1 Asset including reservoir engineering analyses, integration & characterization, up-scaling of geo-cellular model, construction of numerical reservoir simulation model, well testing, stimulation, surveys & sampling programmes and executes related field operations and systematic and periodical surveillance activities for monitoring individual wells and reservoirs performance while investigating and proposing upstream resource optimization programmes to support maximum oil recovery.

• Assists in the implementation of section policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled.
• Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Khafji B1 Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
• Supports the Supervisor in technical evaluation and verification of contractors’ pre-qualification documents and assessment of each contactor’s capabilities, to ensure selection of appropriately qualified contractors at the optimum price and required standards.
• Provides specialized support during the execution of contracts to ensure that both contracting parties fulfil their obligations.
• Reviews various reservoir engineering data, production data and information, existing analysis and study reports, and recommends programs for drilling of exploratory/ development wells, well workover, well completion and production methods.
• Executes field operations and programs for flow tests, drill-stem tests, well stimulation and cleaning, periodically pressure surveys, special well surveys, production logging, and various laboratory analyses ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the Company’s safety policies and procedures.
• Analyses, evaluates, and reports field testing and monitoring data. Investigates performance of each well and reservoir. Compiles, updates, and maintains reservoir engineering data establishing basic reservoir parameters.
• Executes upstream resource optimization programs, and follows up and evaluates activity results. Prepares routine regular reports, statistics, technical summaries and other technical reports.
• Compiles, analyzes and integrates various reservoir engineering data such as flow tests, well tests, BHP surveys, Production logging, core & fluid sample analyses, and historical production performance. Investigates hydrocarbon sweep mechanism and displacement efficiency. Prepares and arranges the project database for reservoir engineering characterization and simulation.
• Investigates various reservoir engineering characterization methods and techniques. Integrates static and dynamic reservoir fluid data into reservoir model for initialization. Studies and provides various development scenarios and operational conditions including enhanced recovery methods.
• Investigates and proposes corporate standards of reserves definition and assessment methods, work flow and criteria. Prepares corporate reserves reports, and performs historical and statistical reserves analyses.
• Constructs numerical simulation model by up-scaling the geo-cellular model. Validates the simulation model by history matching of historical well and reservoir performance, and performs tuning of the model by parameter adjustment.
• Investigates various reservoir simulation methods and techniques. Integrates static and dynamic reservoir fluid data into reservoir model for initialization. Studies and provides various development scenarios and operational conditions including enhanced recovery methods. Performs simulation case studies under various development scenarios, and evaluates future production performance and ultimate hydrocarbon recovery.
• Participates and contributes in the estimation of original fluids in place by deterministic & probabilistic methods and recovery factors & reserves by analytical methods.
