Air Reserve Technicians are full‑time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.
DutiesThe primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer, to serve as the ISR Flight Commander in AFRC Squadrons. The incumbent has responsibility for all ISR operational training and operational matters for the unit. The incumbent also has responsibility for orchestrating related Air Force Reserve integration into global ISR Air Force operations and training via associated programs.
- Provides expertise on Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations, HUMINT, SIGINT, GEOINT/MASINT, Acquisition Intelligence, Targeting, All-Source/Fusion Analysis, and intelligence products for execution of JSR tasking, collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. Serves as an AFRC JSR Flight expert for highly technical, diverse multi‑intelligence operations and training functions, to include HUMINT, SIGINT, GEOINT/MASINT, Acquisition Intelligence, Targeting, All-Source Fusion Analysis, and DCGS.
- Organizes, plans, and oversees the activities of the Group's operations and training programs. Exercises responsibility and authority for planning and managing command/control oversight and tasking of Air Force Reserve forces conducting or supporting multi-disciplined ISR operations (to include HUMINT, SIGINT, GEOINT/MASINT, Acquisition Intelligence, All-Source/Fusion Analysis, DCGS, and Targeting) supporting the U.S. Air Force, DoD, and National level Agencies in the areas of foreign intelligence, foreign counterintelligence, counter terrorism, anti‑terrorism, combat operations, and peacekeeping/peace building operations worldwide.
- Serves as an AFRC ISR expert, interfacing with AFRC and AF ISR Operations Centers, to maintain command/control/oversight and tasking of Air Force Reserve Forces within the ISR Squadron as well as Regular Air Force (Reg AF) ISR units, missions, and operations. The individual may represent the JSR Group Commander, when assigned, and supervises and interfaces with AF JSR Operations Center Chiefs and associated personnel while interfacing with Reg AF counterparts within the AF ISR Operations Centers (to include but not limited to AF ISR Agency, NASIC, DCGS, ISR and Targeting Operations Centers), and external customers to include Combatant Command and Theater Air Force Component Commands.
- Manages the Flight operations and training, apportioning and scheduling programs for ISR members. Analyzes Air Force Reserve capability against standing and dynamic ISR collection requirements and operational ISR requirements to execute operations and training to satisfy those requirements. Designs, develops, and implements current operational and training plans geared to attain and maintain the highest level of combat mission ready proficiency of assigned ISR units and crew members.
- Manages ISR training and readiness for the ISR Flight. May serve as the Group or Squadron's lead for ISR training and readiness for highly technical and multi‑intelligence discipline/operations (to include HUMINT, SIGINT, GEOINT/MASINT, Acquisition Intelligence, All-Source/Fusion Analysis, DCGS, and Targeting) supporting the U.S. Air Force, DoD, and National level Agencies in the areas of foreign intelligence, foreign counterintelligence, counter terrorism, anti‑terrorism, combat operations, and peacekeeping/peace‑building operations worldwide.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be a current member of the AF Reserves or willing/qualified to join.
- As necessary, to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice.
