We are currently looking for a experienced Chef to join our team at our clients Care Home in Biggar. Full-Time Chef, 5 days from 7 between 7am - 7pm & No Late Nights!

Working in a Care Home as a Chef can be a challenging, however, a very rewarding role to undertake. Whilst you still have the challenge of ensuring the food you prepare is of a high standard, the hours of work are more sociable and allows you to have a better “work, life balance”.

You will need to know how to adapt meals to make them suitable for residents with different dietary needs and be skilled at creating healthy balanced meals for everyone. You will be aware and responsible for ensuring that good nutritional meals are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as preparing and cooking meals you may be responsible for managing and ordering the supplies, menu creation and ensuring the kitchen and equipment meets all health and safety requirements.

As part of the role you will be responsible for preparation and meal delivery to people in their own home, which is entirely different to working in a restaurant. Residents like to enquire about their meals, therefore, excellent communication skills and sensitivity to their needs is essential.

Ideally, you should have some previous experience working within a Care Home or in a commercial kitchen with an SVQ/ NVQ qualification in food preparation or cooking.
