Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Medical Imaging
Primary
Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary research program focused on developing a novel ultrasound molecular imaging contrast agent for the detection and characterization of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The successful candidate will work at the interface of molecular biology, ultrasound imaging, and preclinical model development, contributing to an innovative project with strong translational potential.
Nature of Work: The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Steven Machtaler. This work will require working with animal models of inflammatory bowel disease in order to develop and validate an ultrasound contrast agent that can detect active inflammation.
Accountabilities:
Develop and validate a targeted ultrasound molecular imaging contrast agent for inflammatory bowel diseaseDesign, synthesize, and characterize nucleic acid–based targeting agentsPerform in vitro binding assays, functional validation studies, and contrast-agent optimizationLead experimental work in small animal IBD models and contribute to large animal studiesConduct ultrasound imaging using both research-grade and clinical systemsAnalyze imaging data and assist in protocol developmentPrepare manuscripts and contribute to grant proposalsPresent research at conferences and mentor traineesEducation:
PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Medical Imaging, Physiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.Experience:
Experience with animal models of diseaseStrong publication recordStrong communication skillsSkills:
Experience with contrast agent development or targeted imaging probesExperience with animal modelsFamiliarity with quantitative ultrasound or image analysisSkills in data analysis
