Job Description  Wood is recruiting for an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to join its Canadian business focusing on projects across the Mining & Minerals sector. This position is located in any of our Vancouver, BC;
Trail, BC;
Saskatoon, SK; or Burlington, ON offices.

The Role  Reporting to the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Manager, you will review and develop instrumentation and control designs for detailed engineering projects, sign documents as a Professional Engineer, and participate in a full‑time role. Responsibilities   Serve as the intermediate I&C engineer on Canadian and U.S. projects under a senior I&C lead.
Communicate effectively within the I&C team and with other engineering disciplines, project managers, clients, and vendors.
Review and develop I&C designs during detailed engineering phases.
Specify, select, and size instruments and valves for process measurement and control.
Select appropriate components for control, communication, and fire detection/alarm systems, and related cables and panels.
Prepare procurement packages including specifications, datasheets, and calculations.
Prepare technical evaluations of supplier proposals.
Coordinate and interface with equipment vendors and review documentation.
Develop deliverables such as control system architecture, block diagrams, communication network drawings, PLC/DCS panel drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, fire alarm system layouts, instrument indexes, I/O lists, and other required drawings.
Authenticate (P.Eng stamping) deliverables.
Assist with P& and control narratives.
Assist in preparing construction contracts and scope of work.
Write concise technical work plans and reports.
Ensure deliverables meet project requirements, applicable standards and codes, and quality specifications.
Attend site visits to collect data as required.
Balance and meet deadlines on multiple projects.
Qualifications   BSc in Electrical Engineering with specialization or experience in instrumentation/controls.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC, Saskatchewan, or Ontario, or ability to register within 3 months of hire; PE in the U.S. is an asset.
4–6 years of experience supporting I&C engineering consulting projects in mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
Knowledge of CSA, ISA, IEEE standards and the Canadian Electrical Code.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Team player who can also work independently and take responsibility.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Database experience (AVEVA Instrumentation or Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI)) considered an asset.
Working knowledge of 2D/3D software (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D) considered an asset.
Desirable   Database experience (AVEVA Instrumentation or Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI)).
Working knowledge of 2D/3D software (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D).
