Airbnb Localization Manager, Canada
Overview
Airbnb is looking for an experienced Localization Manager to support international expansion and localization strategy for Canada. You will join the core leadership team in the region, shape local initiatives, and adapt global strategies to meet market needs. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to create internationalized products that resonate with local audiences, ensuring Airbnb’s tone, style, and voice are maintained across languages.

You will help lead market strategy, support product localization efforts, and drive a high-quality, native user experience across all platforms for Canada. You will coordinate with central and local teams to influence product changes and ensure our localization standards meet Airbnb’s quality expectations.
A Typical Day
- Partner with Country Manager, Marketing Manager, Legal Counsel, Business Operations, Policy and Communications Manager to align market strategies with Airbnb’s goals.
- Share roadmaps and intent behind product updates to adapt global strategy for the target market.
- Identify market expectations and craft language strategies that offer an authentic native experience in Canada.
- Provide linguistic and cultural expertise to drive international growth and deliver the best possible user experience to the global community.
- Own localization of product naming and creative copies, representing local teams to build Airbnb’s brand in international markets.
- Initiate conversations with central and local teams to influence product changes for market needs.
- Research the needs of international users in collaboration with Consumer Insights and Research teams.
- Lead localization quality improvement initiatives and address challenges in the localization process.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve excellence in localization quality across all platforms.
- Manage translation and QA vendors, assess metrics, and drive improvements.
- Coordinate language feedback from users and Airbnb employees.
- Develop linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines; support content copywriting for marketing initiatives.
- Work with Localization Program Managers and Linguistic QA Managers to ship top-quality products internationally.
Your Expertise
- 8+ years in product localization with a proven track record of owning localization strategy for international launches and managing language quality and content localization.
- Fluency in English and native knowledge of Canadian French is a must.
- Experience in building market strategies informed by market research and data analysis.
- Strong collaboration skills across functions to drive partnerships and initiatives forward.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives at a strategic level.
- Excellent project/program management, partner/stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration across time zones.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders across leadership levels.
- Self-starter, motivated, and outcome-oriented with ownership and accountability.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels and execute in ambiguous environments.
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.

Your Location
This position is Canada - Remote Eligible. The role may require occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. While remote, you must live in a province where Airbnb Canada, Inc. has a registered entity. Currently eligible provinces:
Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. This list can evolve; check with your recruiter for current eligibility.

How We'll Take Care Of You
Base pay is dependent on factors such as training, experience, and market demands. The base pay range shown below is annualized and subject to change; roles may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and travel credits.

$91,000—$107,000 CAD
