Assignment

This position is a part‑time associate faculty role with a maximum workload of 67% of a full‑time load. Courses taught may include C++, Java, Assembly, and Data Structures in C++. Teaching can occur during the day, evening, Saturdays, or through online/distance‑education formats. Assignments will be as needed during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is based on a percentage of workload and prorated from an initial hiring range of $38,464 – $55,582 per semester. Compensation reflects academic achievement, teaching experience, and related experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – Possess any one of the following:

    • Master’s in computer science or computer engineering

    • Bachelor’s in either of the above and a Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering

    • Bachelor’s in engineering and a Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration

    • Bachelor’s in mathematics and a Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration

    • Bachelor’s in any of the above and a Master’s in information science, computer information systems, or information systems
  • A valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation for in‑class, online, or distance‑education activities
  • Evaluate students’ work, consult with students outside of class, and maintain currency in the subjects taught
  • Maintain accurate class and other records required by the college and submit attendance rosters and grade reports when due
  • Follow course outlines filed in the instruction offices and provide a written syllabus at the beginning of each course
  • Maintain office hours each week (0.5 hours per week per section)
  • Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the District and college
  • Refer students to appropriate college services and provide advice on requirements for academic success
  • Work cooperatively within the college community, fostering an environment that protects academic freedom and is free from harassment, prejudice, and bias
  • Demonstrate respect for the dignity of each individual
Other Duties

Will be assigned as appropriate to fulfill the teaching and academic mission of the college.
