Position Information

Position Title: Part-Time Park Management Instructor (Pool)

Campus: West Valley College

Work Location: West Valley College, Saratoga, CA

Summary

Part-time Associate Faculty pool position available as needed during spring, summer, and/or fall semesters. Teaching may include lecture-discussion, online/distance education courses.

Salary and Benefits

Salary prorated based on initial hiring range of $38,464 – $55,582 per semester. Base salary is a percentage of workload up to 67% full‑time load.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Possess any one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree AND two years of relevant professional experience;
    • Associate’s degree AND six years of relevant professional experience;
    • The equivalent of the above.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience teaching park management subjects is highly desired.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation, student evaluation, consultation, and maintenance of subject currency.
  • Maintain accurate class and other records required by the college.
  • Submit attendance rosters and grade reports when due.
  • Follow course outlines as filed in the instruction offices.
  • Maintain office hours of 0.5 hours per week per section.
  • Enforce district and college regulations, policies, and programs.
  • Provide each student with a written course syllabus at the beginning of the course.
  • Refer students to appropriate counseling and student services.
  • Assist students with advice on academic requirements.
  • Work cooperatively within the college community.
  • Foster an environment that protects academic freedom and respects the dignity of each individual.
  • Support a positive working environment free from harassment, prejudice, and bias.
Selection Process
  • Applications screened by appropriate department; qualifying candidates invited for interview.
  • Interview travel expenses are the candidate’s responsibility.
  • Applications remain in the system for one year. Part‑time pools refreshed each year.
  • Selected candidates must provide identity and work authorization documents upon hire.
  • Prior to employment, the selected candidate must submit official transcripts.
  • The district does not provide visa sponsorship.
