Position Information
  • Title: Part‑Times Administration of Justice Instructor (Pool)
  • Campus: West Valley College, Saratoga, CA
  • Position Summary: Part‑time Associate Faculty pool position; teaching may be lecture‑discussion during day, evening, Saturday, or online/distance modes, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters.
  • Work location: West Valley College, Saratoga, CA
  • Salary: Based on a percentage of workload, up to 67% of a full‑time load. Initial hiring salary range $38,464 – $55,582 per semester. Prorated based on academic achievement, teaching, and related experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – Possess one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree AND two years of related professional experience; or
    • Associate’s degree AND six years of related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

    Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
    • Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation for in‑class or online/distance activities, evaluation of student work, consultation outside class, and maintaining currency in subjects taught.
    • Maintain accurate class and other records required by the college.
    • Submit attendance rosters and grade reports when due.
    • Follow course outlines as filed in instruction offices.
    • Hold office hours each week, 0.5 hours per week per section.
    • Observe, support, and enforce regulations, policies, and programs of the District and college.
    • Provide each student with a written syllabus at the beginning of the course per Faculty Handbook.
    • Refer students to appropriate college sources for counseling and other student services.
    • Assist students by providing advice on requirements for successful achievement in the field of administration of justice.
    • Work cooperatively within the college community.
    • Foster an environment that protects academic freedom.
    • Foster a positive working environment free from harassment, prejudice, and/or bias.
    • Demonstrate respect for the dignity of each individual.
