Position Title:
Part‑Time Associate Faculty – Kinesiology Instructor
Campus:
West Valley College, Saratoga, CA
Assignment:
This part‑time position may require teaching lecture‑discussion courses during the day, evening, or on Saturday and/or in an online/distance education format. Assignments are as needed during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters.
Salary:
Up to 67% of a full‑time load. Initial hiring salary range: $38,464 – $55,582 per semester, prorated based on workload.
- Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
- A valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Kinesiology.
- The equivalent of the above.
- Current certification through one or more of the following organizations: NSCA, NASM, or USAW, and CPR/AED certified.
- Minimum of 1 year working in a collegiate strength and conditioning program.
- Experience teaching all forms of resistance training and conditioning.
- Experience designing strength programs for student athletes.
- Knowledge and/or certification in functional training (FMS, Kettlebells, or TRX).
- Knowledge of speed improvement and mechanics, flexibility and mobility training, energy system specific running, skill‑specific training, testing and evaluation protocols, rehabilitation procedures, and nutrition science.
- Basic computer skills:
Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. - Experience managing personal fitness trainers and strength and conditioning staff.
- Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparing in‑class or online/distance education activities, evaluating student work, consulting with students, and maintaining currency in the subjects taught.
