Overview
A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. A Medical Assistant will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
RoleAs a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:
- Providing patient care:
Under the direction of the clinician, assisting the provider to gather information that is relative to the patient’s visit and condition. - Effective communication:
Communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions. - Team collaboration:
Working with cross functional teams to collaborate on patient care. Attention to detail and follow-through are key components in helping to provide the care that is needed.
Part-Time (24 hrs/wk - Tuesday 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday 12:45 PM to 5:00 PM, and Friday 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM)

CompensationThe hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$19.87 - $28.31
Minimum Qualifications- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program (certification must be provided upon hire)
- Or at least one year of Medical Assistant experience (verified upon hire) OR current RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers
- Utah Only:
If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software
- Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA, or CMA (AAMA)
