Description
POSITION OBJECTIVESThe Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role ensures accurate financial records, assists with month-end and year-end close processes, and helps maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Support and assist the development team with construction requests and Permit renewals
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Preparation of financial statements and internal reports
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company procedures
- Assist with audits by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
- Perform other accounting or finance-related duties as assigned
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: DEGREEBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
REQUIREMENTS: EXPERIENCE- 2+ years on an Accounting team in a corporate environment with multiple subsidiaries
- Ability to use enterprise-level financial record-keeping software systems (Great Plains & Net Suite)
- Month End Close experience
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs with high degree of proficiency in Excel
- Internal customer service minded attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple mediums
- Ability to remain in a stationary seated or standing position for various increments of time
- Able to move about to access a variety of tools and office equipment
- Able to consistently operate a computer or other electronic device
- Able to ascend or descend a ladder, crouch or crawl
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, lift over head, twist and turn body when appropriate
- Must be able to communicate clearly through both verbal and written form
