Overview

We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
. The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics in a mobile/field environment, under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The role includes learning advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques and maintaining high performance metrics in compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, braking, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, steering, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and transmission systems; test and inspect with appropriate instruments.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment for the service truck; perform reconciliations as needed.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule with a high degree of independence.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed.
  • Document work according to company standards, including RO notes, parts used, and findings on an iOS device using TRAIT application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and DOT/OSHA regulations.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience; alternatively, another combination such as higher degree/certification or 5 years of related experience.
  • Own a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Must pass DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; DOT medical card acceptable in lieu of a DOT physical if valid for more than four months.
  • Minimum age 21 due to interstate operating authority; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
Certifications
  • ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months
  • Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical/Electronic), T7 (HVAC), T8/609 (EPA)

  • Ability to interpret and apply new information for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients and teams effectively.
  • Ability to determine tools and equipment needed and to judge distances and workspace.
  • Logical reasoning to evaluate alternatives and solve problems.
