Sonoma County Regional Parks is seeking Park Aides who will provide valuable service to the community and our parklands. If this is you, apply now! Multiple positions available! Salary starting at $23.15/hour!
AboutAs a Park Aide, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the parks and a variety of Sonoma County Regional Parks programs with Park Rangers and Ranger Assistants. On-the-job training is provided to assist you in learning about park rules, procedures, interpretation, and operations. In this role, you will work independently and collaboratively as a team.
As a Park Aide, you will be:
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dumping trash, and collecting litter
- Opening and closing parks
- Assisting Maintenance Workers with various tasks
- Helping the Park Operations team keep the parks safe and clean
- Interpreting and explaining park rules to park visitors
- Collecting fees such as day use passes, membership purchases, and campground fees
- Assisting with special events, park previews, and educational programs
- Experience performing janitorial and physical labor duties
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to make independent decisions and possession of problem-solving skills
- Experience handling cash and using a point-of-sale system
- Strong communication customer service skills to assist a diverse group of people internally and externally
- Possession of a valid American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care card is desirable
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are desired, but not required
Please note: These positions require working hours that may vary, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work may be year-round, with peak season between May-October. Work is performed in various weather conditions.

Sonoma County Regional Parks includes more than 50 parks and beaches from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. Many parks offer wild landscapes and miles of trails. Others feature sports fields, playgrounds, boat launches, and campgrounds.
Regional Parks also manages the County's largest ocean marina. As a Park Aide you will be enthralled with Sonoma County’s rolling hills, rugged coastline and meandering rivers while contributing to their stewardship.
Extra-help employees relieve or augment permanent staff. Temporary, extra-help employees are not in the classified civil service and do not have property rights to permanently allocated positions. In addition, they do not receive most employee benefits such as long-term disability insurance coverage, accrual of vacation, participation in the County retirement program, or eligibility to take promotional examinations. Temporary, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of one calendar year.
These employees must be off of work for three months before they can be re-employed on an extra help basis. Extra-help employees who meet the eligibility requirements may qualify for a County contribution toward medical coverage.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill multiple temporary, extra-help Park Aide positions in the Regional Parks Department. This employment list may also be used to fill future extra-help positions as they occur during the active status of this list.

Minimum QualificationsExperience and Education: Any combination of education and work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed herein. Normally, this would include experience in a position involving public contact, or performing janitorial, and/or physical manual labor. Coursework or training in park management, natural resources, forestry, environmental studies, or a closely related field is desirable.
