Shift: 5 x 8 Days, M-F start times; no on call or weekends
Job Description:
Fast paced unit who sees up to 70 patients total a day. RN will be responsible for between 6-8 infusions a day. Evaluate a patient's condition and vein health to determine the best access site. Review medical history, allergies, and current medications. Monitor vital signs before and after infusions. Insert and manage peripheral IV lines, central lines, ports, or PICC lines.
Ensure the line is clean, patent (not blocked), and secure. Prevent and manage complications like phlebitis, infiltration, or infection. Prepare and administer IV medications, fluids, antibiotics, chemotherapy, or biologics. Adjust flow rates and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects. Follow strict protocols for medication compatibility and infusion timing. Teach patients and caregivers how to manage home infusion therapy. Instruct on recognizing signs of complications (e.g., infection, allergic reactions).
Record all details of the infusion: medication, dosage, time, site condition, and patient response. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies. Work with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
