Starting salary up to $83.95/hour ($175,213/year) plus a competitive total compensation package!*

As a senior member of the SPI management team, the Senior Capital Project Manager provides overall supervision of the Capital Projects team responsible for new and ongoing projects. The SCPM supports county administration through management of the Capital Improvement Plan, capital project budgets, professional services agreements, and major construction contracts, and advises the Deputy Director on strategic goals and the long‑term vision for the team.
The SCPM ensures capital improvement projects are delivered on time, on budget, and meet customers’ satisfaction. Supporting the SCPM in these efforts is one Capital Project Manager and the Capital Projects Team, responsible for managing projects at the Main Adult Detention Facility, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney, Public Defender, Probation, and all other county facilities.
The SCPM is familiar with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and practices and applies them as required. In addition to providing leadership for the Capital Projects Unit, the SCPM is responsible for directly managing the most complex design and construction projects.
Additional Responsibilities Include- Supervising and leading staff to build a motivated and high‑performing team, including performance management, assignment of projects and balancing workloads through staff strengths and areas of expertise
- Monitoring required levels of productivity for reimbursable staff
- Advising staff of potential risks to execution and when to take corrective action
- Ensuring projects comply with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and policies
- Providing consultation on design and construction issues, accessibility standards, means and methods of construction, cost estimating, contract management, and procurement processes
- Recommending and implementing process improvements to project management
Strong leadership and mentorship, dedication, and a solution‑oriented mindset directed at overcoming complex building challenges. Proven capital project management experience and knowledge of the following areas:
- Public Contract Code, Uniform Building Code, National Fire Protection Association
- Americans with Disabilities Act
- Energy efficiency, sustainability and carbon reduction strategies
- Historic Preservation and Cultural Resources
- Government capital building policies and procedures
- Computer‑aided design and drafting
- Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
