Overview
Carroll Law Office is seeking an experienced family law paralegal to support a busy team of attorneys in an established Santa Rosa practice. This is an immediate-need position for a professional who is comfortable managing cases from intake through trial, understands Sonoma County local rules and procedures, and values collaborative, client-focused work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and confident, working independently in a fast-paced family law environment.
This position is primarily in-office, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule for the right candidate. A 4-day workweek may be considered. Competitive salary, bonus opportunity, and flexible time off are offered.
- Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
- Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
- Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Support attorneys in family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, domestic violence, and dependency-related cases
- Manage case files, calendars, deadlines, and court appearances in compliance with California and Sonoma County Rules of Court
- Assist with client intake and information gathering
- Provide limited administrative or phone support as backup only
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies;
Bachelor’s degree desired - Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program strongly preferred
- Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills
- This position is located in Santa Rosa, California
- Ability to work in-office (hybrid may be available after onboarding)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm setting
- Family law experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of Sonoma County local rules, filing procedures, and courtroom processes
- Comply with Business and Professions Code 6250 qualification requirements, such as holding a Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines independently and work with minimal supervision
- Local candidates strongly preferred; applicants must confirm ability to work in Santa Rosa
$70,000 - $90,000 yearly
