Overview

Summary: This Human Resources Business Partner will be joining our team in Santa Rosa, CA. This pivotal role requires a seasoned HR professional with at least five years of experience, including prior leadership or management experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise working with both unionized and non-unionized employees, fostering positive workplace relationships and ensuring compliance with labor regulations. Travel

Travel Expectations: This position involves frequent travel, with approximately 50% of time spent visiting our additional office locations in Oakland and Mira Loma, CA. All travel expenses will be fully covered by DON.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree; 3+ years of progressive HR experience in generalist or senior generalist capacity
  • Broad human resources knowledge with experience in colleague relations, recruitment, benefits, and compensation
  • Prior experience with unions a plus
  • Strong people skills with the ability to interact with all levels of colleagues and management
  • Must travel as needed
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Working knowledge of Workday. PHR or SPHR certified.
Essential Duties
  • Provide counsel to colleagues and management ensuring legal compliance with policy and laws.
  • Conduct internal investigations in accordance with Company policy and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to successfully execute the annual performance review cycles.
  • Provide guidance to management regarding performance issues.
  • Work with Union representatives to facilitate a good working relationship as needed.
  • Partner with management to address any grievance administration, while ensuring compliance with the CBA.
  • Oversee local unemployment compensation claims, local workers’ compensation claims and OSHA reporting logs to ensure compliance.
  • Possess an intimate understanding of the leave of absence process, including but not limited to FMLA and workers' compensation.
  • Actively engage with other HR team members around best practices and identify opportunities to create consistency where necessary.
  • Continue to partner with Sysco's Centers of Excellence (COE) to execute best practices.
  • Support the Director of HR in executing HR strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and local DOT standards and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
