Overview
We are expanding and looking to hire a Compliance Analyst who is familiar with Real Estate Management regulations, Mortgage Lending and Mortgage Loan Servicing. This is a full-time in-office position (hybrid is a possibility once trained on functions).
PLEASE NOTE: We want someone who’s cheerful and genuinely enjoys administrative duties such as being on a computer, able to review files for hours, diving into loads of paperwork to verify completeness, has a good knowledge of California DRE and NMLS regulations and requirements, and has a good sense for compliance to regulations.
Job OverviewWe are seeking an individual experienced in the lending / mortgage / real estate / loan servicing industries to be a Compliance Analyst. This person will oversee regulatory compliance across private mortgage lending, mortgage loan servicing, and real estate management companies. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local city/county regulations governing mortgage origination, loan servicing, licensing, trust accounting, real estate management, State & Fed reporting, and advertising.
This position plays a critical role in protecting the company, its investors, and its borrowers by identifying risk, enforcing controls, managing examinations, and ensuring ongoing compliance across lending, servicing, licensing, trust accounting, advertising, and reporting obligations. This position works closely with company management and the Broker.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor, interpret, and apply DRE, NMLS, CFPB, and California regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance of licensing, renewals, continuing education, and regulatory filings.
- Review loan files for consumer and business purpose compliance.
- Conduct internal audits, spot checks, and compliance reviews.
- Manage regulatory examinations, audits, and follow-up responses.
- Escalates compliance issues and required corrections as needed.
- Ensure loan servicing operations and trust accounts comply with applicable regulations.
- Review marketing and advertising for regulatory accuracy.
- Develop, update, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
- Deliver compliance training and support a culture of accountability.
- Oversee complaint intake, investigation, and resolution.
- Ensure timely completion of all required DRE and NMLS reports.
- Coordinate policy updates and ensure policy reflects current laws, regulatory expectations and internal risk tolerance.
- Ensure timely completion and compliant rental contracts, maintenance of rental accounts per regulations, timely notices, etc.
- 2+ years experience in loan servicing, banking, escrow, or a regulated financial industry.
- Strong working knowledge of California mortgage and servicing regulations.
- Experience with DRE and NMLS compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Full-time position and in-office, shared work requirement.
- Hybrid position is a possibility once trained on this position and its duties.
