We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Medical Director for Transplant and Cellular Therapy to lead and oversee the clinical and strategic direction of our cellular therapy program—while maintaining an active clinical practice in hematologic malignancies and/or stem cell transplantation. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine visionary leadership with hands-on patient care and academic engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hematology, cellular therapy, and stem cell transplantation, and be committed to advancing innovative treatment approaches such as CAR-T and other adoptive cellular therapies.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Program Oversight:
- Serve as Medical Director of the Cellular Therapy Program, providing strategic and clinical leadership to advance program goals and quality standards.
- Oversee the development and implementation of clinical protocols related to CAR-T, stem cell transplant (autologous and allogeneic), and emerging cellular therapies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (FACT, FDA, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across hematology/oncology to optimize program efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth of the cellular therapy program.
- Represent the program at institutional and external meetings, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.
Clinical Practice:
- Provide direct patient care in hematologic malignancies, with a clinical focus in cellular therapy and/or stem cell transplantation.
- Maintain an active outpatient and inpatient clinical schedule, with responsibilities proportioned to accommodate leadership duties.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, tumor boards, and clinical rounds.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, tumor boards, system-wide Cellular Therapy Program of Distinction and clinical rounds.
- Support and mentor fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers in clinical settings.
Research &
Education:
- Support and engage in clinical and translational research initiatives.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
- Provide educational leadership within the department and contribute to faculty development and continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO with board certification in Hematology (and/or Medical Oncology).
- Board Eligibility for medical licensure in California.
- Fellowship training in Hematology with substantial experience in cellular therapy and stem cell transplantation preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of post-fellowship clinical and/or leadership experience preferred.
- Proven leadership in clinical program development, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong commitment to medicine, clinical research, and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CAR-T therapy, immune effector cell programs, and FDA-regulated clinical trials.
- Familiarity with FACT accreditation, cGMP standards, and quality assurance in cellular therapy.
- A record of scholarly activity and publication in hematologic malignancies or cellular therapy.
- Highly competitive compensation, with income potential commensurate with experience.
