SUMMARY:
The Cleaning and Sanitation Manager is responsible for directing all activities of the Cleaning and Sanitation crew and working closely with the Food Safety team to review daily cleaning and sanitation plans. In addition, review all lab results for follow-up and planning. It is critical to follow all chemical label instructions for only approved materials used in the facility and have safety data sheets available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Limoneira’s job descriptions describe the key areas of responsibility but do not attempt to describe all activities or areas of responsibility. In most cases, the description covers approximately 80% of an individual's daily, weekly, or monthly job duties.
- Supervise and coordinate all sanitation activities for Santa Paula and Oxnard packinghouses, including managing the Cleaning and Sanitation team, developing the sanitation schedule, and providing regular progress reports to managers.
- Ensure all Sanitation and Food Safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Enforce PPE use, worker safety practices, hygiene and health practices, and all Food Safety policies and regulations.
- Provide food safety training onsite for any worker non-compliance and file a report to communicate with Limoneira Human Resources and/or Temporary staffing agency and the Food Safety team.
- Report any findings that propose any risk to the worker safety, product, equipment sanitation, and operations to the different managers.
- Report any opportunities for improvement in cleaning and sanitation standardized procedures to the Food Safety Department to review and modify documents.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Food Safety Departments any equipment dismantling activities, repairs, and upgrades to facilitate cleaning and sanitation to report completion and follow-ups.
- Verify the Cleaning and Sanitation team Pre-Ops and any corrective actions.
- Daily communication with the Food Safety team to address any problems, close out corrective actions, and analyze information about the Environmental Monitoring Program and changes in chemical use.
- Train supervisors and leads to properly operate the Hygiena instrument to verify the effective cleanliness of equipment before sanitizing.
- Verify acceptable ATP tolerances established in the EMP, before releasing any equipment for production run.
- Verify all usage reports and inventory control records and perform any corrective actions as needed.
- Follow and track sanitation metrics and standards.
- Ensure documentation completion, review, compile, and maintain documentation assuring compliance with cleaning and sanitation schedule and audit readiness at all times.
- Enforce proper documentation logs and cleaning records by equipment and area.
- Work with Sanitation and Janitor to address any sources of contamination.
- Review Sanitation lab test results to strategize sanitation plan.
- Participate in any training required by the Limoneira Company.
- Provide sanitation and chemical safety handling training for sanitation and janitorial crew.
Perform all other duties and special projects as directed by the Director of Food Safety.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, must have a minimum of 3 years experience in Cleaning and Sanitation duties. Previous supervisor/management experience is preferred, and citrus knowledge is a plus. Must possess a valid California driver’s license, maintain a clean DMV record, and is able to be insured by the Company’s auto carrier.
