Responsibilities
- Direct members in proper form and technique for general exercise.
- Recruit and retain training clients.
- Design and implement individual workout plans to fit client's specific needs and goals.
- Keep accurate records of training sessions and client programs.
- Work with one-on-one and/or partner clients.
- Participate in program meetings and workshops as scheduled.
- Maintain knowledge in current and emerging fitness and wellness trends.
- Must have good communication skills and ability to build relationships.
- Must be familiar with and prepared to use emergency procedures.
- Carry out all tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Demonstrate and enforce the core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility) to staff, YMCA members, program participants and the general public.
- Know, follow and understand all guidelines and policies of the facility.
- Possess and maintain current personal training certification from accredited organization (NASM, ACE, NCSF, NESTA, NSCS).
- Possess and maintain current CPR, AED and First Aid Certification from American Red Cross (ARC), American Heart Association (AHA) or American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or be willing to acquire one within the first 30 days of hire.
- Experience and/or education in the wellness field.
- Experience in fitness testing, exercise program design and teaching appropriate fitness to members of all ages and fitness levels.
- Full working knowledge of facility safety and emergency procedures.

- Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods.
- Frequent amounts of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Physically perform all skills required of a personal trainer including fully demonstrating exercises.
