Data Engineer

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team! This position is located in Santa Monica, California.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data platform components for real-time and batch processing
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and system design through implementation, testing, and deployment
• Define and evaluate technical architecture
• Lead engineering trade‑off discussions and system‑level design decisions
• Build highly available, fault‑tolerant distributed systems
• Drive best practices in code quality, performance optimization, automated testing, and CI/CD
• Improve system reliability, observability, and production monitoring
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues to ensure system performance and uptime
• Collaborate closely with product managers, program managers, SDETs, and data scientists to deliver business‑aligned solutions
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid‑level engineers
• Foster an inclusive, high‑performing engineering culture
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to platform architecture
• Contribute to long‑term technical strategy and innovation initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
• 5+ years of professional programming experience such as Scala, Python, or similar
• 3+ years of hands‑on big data development experience
• Strong experience with distributed data processing technologies
• Experience building highly available, scalable production‑grade services
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills

The approximate pay range for this position is between $62.00 and $89.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
