Overview
Senior Software Engineer (Java / AWS) – 12+ month contract (potential to hire) - Hybrid
This role is hybrid 3 days per week in Santa Monica, CA
- Optomi, in partnership with one of the largest entertainment companies in the world, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join their User State and Customizations team within the Services and Data Engineering organization.
- The team’s mission is to build highly available, high-throughput services that power personalized experiences for millions of subscribers. You’ll play a key role in designing and scaling backend systems that support live sports, entertainment, and core streaming functionality at a global scale.

- Lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and shape best practices at scale
- Contribute to a strong technical community through collaboration and knowledge sharing
- BS in Computer Science or STEM subject
- Expertise in Java, database scaling (Mongo
DB, MySQL), and stream processing - Strong understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and concurrency
- Hands-on experience building RESTful services with production-grade reliability
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Docker
- Excellent communication skills, self-directed problem solver, and collaborative mindset
