Union Building Engineer; Non Certified

The Union Building Engineer (Non-Certified) supports the designated leadership with the daily operations of all building systems. This includes hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry and metal work, operating, maintaining and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems. The Certified Engineer will also respond to customer requests and submit and close work orders as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Union position

$46.26 Hourly

Mon – Fri, 10AM to 6PM.

The Union Engineer supports the designated leadership with the daily operations of all building systems. This includes hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry and metal work, operating, maintaining and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems. The Certified Engineer will also respond to customer requests and submit and close work orders as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

• Operate,maintain,andrepairallboilers, heaters,pumps,valves,appurtenances,andlines used in thedistributionofsteamand heated or processed water.
• Operate, maintain and repair HVAC systems.
• Operate, maintain and repair refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps,expansion valves,stopvalvesandfloatvalves,togetherwithall refrigerant linesand devices used to control temperature.
• Operate, maintain and repair pumps, handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids,together with all valves,appurtenances and linesused in thesystem.
• Operate,maintain,andrepairaircompressors,togetherwithdistributionlinesandallvalves and devices foraircontrol.
• Operate,maintainandrepairallnaturalandmanufacturedgasdistributionlines,including all valves and control devices.
• Operate,maintainandrepairwaterfilterssofteners,pipingandpumpsusedinconjunction with water distribution,including all sinks,toilet bowls,supply lines,drains and waterlines.
• Operate,maintainandrepairalltypesofelectricalmotorsandenginesusedtopower pumps,compressor sand fans.
• Operate,maintainandrepairfueloilsystemsincludingpumps,valves,lines,control sand fuel tanks.
• Operate,maintainandrepairsanitarysewersystems,includingsumppumps,basins,water closets,urinal sand piping.
• Maintain and repairtrashcompactors,including electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintainelectricalpowerdistributionandauxiliariesforthebuilding’slighting,mechanical, plumbing and control componentsincludinglightingmaintenance.
• Maintainproperoperationduringseasonalchangesandrecalibratecontrolsbasedupon seasonal conditions to assure energyefficientoperation.
• Maintain all equipment as required per the Preventive Maintenance Program. The Preventive Maintenanceprogramwillbescheduledtomeet the manufacturer’s required services specifications.
• Life/Safetyandsecuritysystems-Equipment maintenanceapplicablein

• Formal knowledge of HVAC Components (VAV’s, Air-Handlers, Pumps, unit ventilators, etc.)
• Experience that is commensurate with the specific facility for the position of Certified Engineer
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• As required, highest level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license
• Computer skills and building automation systems experience required.
• Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required.
• EPA 608 Certified (preferred)

In a safe and efficient manner, operates and maintains boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning facilities and all appurtenant equipment driven by steam, air, diesel, gas, water or any other power-developing energy. Patrols inspect and maintains all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping and plumbing systems and equipment to the end that the most economical and efficient results may be obtained. May effect repairs on toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, minor repairs on furniture and floors, provided that while standing a watch on a high-pressure boiler installation, they are not required to violate any State, County or City Ordinances, Codes or Laws.
