Pantry and Meals Supervisor – Santa Monica Corps
Job Summary:
The Pantry and Meals Supervisor is responsible for supervision and coordination of all food preparation, Gift-in-Kind (GIK) food pick-ups, and oversight of all social service community meals, and food pantry program operations.

Position SummaryThe Pantry and Meals Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and coordination of food preparation, GIK donor pickups, and social service community meals.
Essential Functions- Supervise kitchen and pantry operations and ensure cleanliness at all times.
- Responsible for all GIK donation pick-ups from local donors.
- Plan and coordinate the weekly menu for community meals, corps activities, and special events.
- Organize kitchen supplies, maintenance, and inventory in the kitchen, pantry, and surrounding areas (dining hall).
- Oversee seasonal kitchen and dining hall activities, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Maintain and supply the food pantry program in accordance with USDA, Food Bank, and Salvation Army guidelines—prepare food boxes/bags, hot meals, and purchase or order food as necessary.
- Supervise kitchen and social service food service volunteers, coordinating coverage with corps leadership and staff.
- Obtain a Food Handler’s certification within 30 days of employment.
- Keep statistics of meals and ensure data is communicated to the administrative assistant weekly and all monthly statistics are reported.
- Assist with general social services, community events, and outreach activities as needed.
- Perform multiple tasks as assigned.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License to operate a vehicle for food pick-ups.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cleaning, and food safety regulations.
$22.00-$24.00 per hour.
Working ConditionsThis position involves operating kitchen appliances, packing food bags, and sorting food and other items. Requires walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting intermittently or continuously; ability to grasp, push, pull objects, reach overhead, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for successful performance in human services.
- High School or General Education Diploma.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including working with diverse program participants.
- Willingness to work in an alcohol- and drug-free environment and comply with drug and alcohol testing when required.
- Physical ability: lift up to 30 pounds.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or those in need; basic case management understanding.
- Effective written and oral communication; basic computer skills with Word and Excel.
- Compassionate and compliant with program policies and rules.
