Job Description & How to Apply Below
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legal agreements (old and new) and enter critical rights data into various rights management applications (e.g. GRS, Rights Hub, etc.) so that this information can be applied to repertoire and made available to the rest of the organization. This includes capturing overall rights as well as restrictions (e.g. coupling, synch, side artist, etc.).
- Create written summaries of Artist contracts (sometimes multiple contracts, spanning the course of decades) to validate UMG’s rights to that Artist’s repertoire. These summaries are then used to assist with rights data input into the various systems.
- Liase with various internal departments including Business Affairs, Finance and Program Developers/Support Teams, as well as external partners, to accurately interpret and summarize contracts to verify legal rights to repertoire.
- Deep research into specific artists required (online, contractual, databases, etc.).
- Link agreements to all relevant repertoire and maintain repertoire-level rights exceptions. This includes clean-up projects and updates as deals change (e.g. accurately moving repertoire from one deal to another while ensuring there’s no negative impact on the digital supply chain).
- Maintain high-level tracking reports of progress.
- Raise issues with support teams and other system teams as appropriate.
- Maintain and organize files and all relevant correspondence as part of work product.
- Work with a variety of data sources, extracting knowledge and actionable information from large datasets.
