Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.

The Data Foundations Platform and Governance Engineering team within the Commerce, Data, and Identity organization within the larger Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product and Technology organization is searching for a Senior Software Engineer. The role will focus on privacy solutions and data subject rights automation, working cross‑functionally with analytics, data architecture, legal and security partners to build scalable solutions to solve complex privacy related challenges.

You’ll explore how data is being used at Disney’s world‑class streaming services while pushing the boundaries of what is possible using the latest technologies, such as AWS and Databricks.

• Contribute to developing full‑stack applications as part of a unified platform and user experience.
• Be a key player in a cross‑functional team of engineers who build software for a large‑scale data processing ecosystem, supporting real‑time and batch data pipelines for analytics, data science, and operations.
• Contribute to architecture, design, and code shared libraries in Scala and Python that abstract complex business logic to allow consistent functionality across all data pipelines within the Data organization.
• Build world‑class modularized tooling to understand our very complex environments, planning simplification, migration, and maintenance.
• Maintain software engineering and architecture best practices and standards within the team and wider organization, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation.
• Evangelize and evolve the platform, best practices, data‑driven decisions; identify new use cases and features and drive adoption.
• Build a robust observability, alerting, logging, and system control plane that allows easy diagnosis of any issues across all our data pipelines.
