Looking for Floater Associate teachers for a progressive preschool in the Santa Monica area. We are only interested in candidates who have a passion for the field and meet all the requirements listed. We're looking for people who have chosen early education as their career, not just a job. Qualifications
  • All applicants must have a clear understanding of an emergent curriculum and a blended approach as well as the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Floaters must be open to working with all ages within our programming, genuinely resonate with our unique philosophy, and have an eagerness to grow within our school.
Requirements
  • 12 ECE units (B.A. or B.S. Preferred).
  • 1 year of classroom teaching experience.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must be able to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • First Aid/CPR
Responsibilities
  • Support the teachers in daily classroom routines, enrichment, and curriculum implementation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
  • Support diapering, potty-training, and hygiene needs.
  • Model respectful, reflective interactions with children at all times.
  • Foster positive peer interactions and support independent conflict resolution.
  • Communicate professionally with staff in partnership with the Lead Teacher and team.
  • Uphold Piper’s community values and positive school culture.
Expectations
  • Lead with positivity and professionalism.
  • Check email daily and communicate clearly with staff and Administration.
  • Remain actively engaged with children—never leaving a child unsupervised.
  • Follow all Piper policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move up to 20–50 lbs (35 lbs for toddler classrooms).
  • Bend, crouch, sit, stand, and move throughout the day.
  • Work indoors and outdoors and respond quickly in emergency situations.
