Job Duties- Teach developmental (arithmetic, prealgebra, geometry, elementary and intermediate algebra) and/or college‑level mathematics courses.
- Prepare your own syllabus and course materials using the course outline, textbook and course calendar provided by the Mathematics Department.
- Use email weekly to check for departmental information, follow departmental policies and procedures, complete flex hours in proportion to units assigned and submit required forms/rosters in a timely manner.
- Hold weekly office hours.
Master's Degree in one of the following:
Mathematics
, Applied Mathematics OR
- Bachelor's Degree in either of the above AND a Master's Degree in one of the following:
Statistics
, Mathematics Education
, Physics
, or equivalent.
- Community college teaching experience in mathematics.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in the content area (a teaching demonstration will be part of the interview process).
- Commitment to using a variety of teaching strategies to present mathematical ideas.

Pay Philosophy
Starting salary for Part Time Faculty is based on educational achievement and relevant prior employment experience up to but not beyond Step
4. Further step advancement will occur at the beginning of the intersession or semester following completion of multiples of 30 LHE at Santa Monica College.
