Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Westside Waldorf School has a great opportunity for an experienced Early Childhood Assistant Teacher at our O’Neill campus. The assistant teacher will work closely with the lead teacher to facilitate an exceptional Waldorf Early Childhood experience for the students. They will support daily preparations, the organization and tidiness of the indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and other day-to-day responsibilities that support the school environment.

They will also engage with students and help to manage and supervise them according to the principles of Waldorf Education and under the direction and guidance of the lead teacher.

Westside Waldorf School's thriving Early Childhood program includes two kindergarten classes, two nursery classes, and a Parent/Child program all located at the O’Neill campus in Santa Monica, California. The school also has a full Grades 1-8 program at a separate Santa Monica location. Our kindergartens are mixed-age, with 4- to 6-year-olds, and class sizes are 15 to 17 children, while our Nurseries range from 2.6 to 4.5 years old, with up to 12 children in each class.

• Strong interpersonal and teaching skills
• Willingness to collaborate with faculty team and administration
• An understanding of Waldorf education
• Must have completed 12 ECE units
• Must pass Livescan (background check), TB clearance, and physical exam
• Training in CPR & First Aid, with willingness to obtain current certification if needed

7:45 am - 2:45 pm Monday-Friday, with 30-minute lunch

The position is on a 10-month cycle (mid-August to mid-June), with the potential for renewal annually.
