Job Summary And Responsibilities

As a GI Technician, you will provide critical support and direct assistance during gastrointestinal procedures, ensuring a sterile, safe, and efficient environment for patient care.

• Department Support:
  Clean and restock assigned areas. Order supplies for GI Lab in a timely and cost-effective manner. Take initiative to assist co‑workers in completing workload and improving work environment. Complete additional projects as assigned by supervisor. Actively participate in unit committees/task forces. Attend 80% of staff meetings and all mandatory meetings. Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, working extra hours in times of increased workload and/or illness or absence of co‑worker.
  
  Take call if required.
• Quality Assurance:
  Ensure that supplies and equipment are available during procedures. Clean and sterilize endoscopic equipment according to policy and procedure. Process specimens according to policy and procedure. Dispose of supplies, needles, and instruments appropriately, sending to CSR for reprocessing or putting in proper storage area at end of procedure. Assist in cleaning of endoscopy suite within 10 minutes of completion of procedure.
  
  Initiate work orders for repair of equipment.
• General Knowledge:
  Able to assist with 90% of all GI procedures within six (6) months of hire date.
• Compliance with Policy and Procedures:
  Comply with safety, infection control, CHW Integrity Program, and other organizational policies. (90‑day evals – department specific orientation checklists completed; annual evals – annual competency checklists completed) Comply with the organization’s dress code. Arrive at work on time, as defined by the Timeliness and Attendance Policy. Attend work consistently, as defined by the Timeliness and Attendance Policy.
• Other Staff Responsibilities:
  Actively support the organization’s mission, philosophy and strategic plan. Demonstrate good time management and priority setting.

• Experience in the field of Gastroenterology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR, within 30 days of hire.

• Six (6) months recent hospital experience.

$27.39 – $34.23 per hour
