We are seeking an experienced Public Health Nurse with a passion for promoting community health, wellness, and equity to lead a team as our Public Health Nurse Supervisor
.
County Health is accepting applications to fill one (1) Public Health Nurse Supervisor position in the Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care (HCPCFC) to work countywide.

Under general direction, promotes community health through detection, prevention, and control of disease; provides assessment, case management, education, and counseling in the care and prevention of illness and injury and in wellness promotion; supervises the public health nursing function of a program or clinic; and performs related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Public Health Nurse, Supervising is a working supervisory class characterized by responsibility for providing public health nursing services to individuals and/or families, in addition to supervising the activities of other professional and paraprofessional staff in an assigned program or clinic. Duties involve the full scope of public health nursing activities at the fully qualified professional level. Clients typically have limited knowledge of health principles, nutrition, disease process, appropriate care, or available resources.
Incumbents work in the community making home visits, as well as conducting specialty clinics and health education activities.
The Public Health Nurse, Supervising class is responsible for the public health nursing function of a program. It is distinguished from Regional Clinic Manager, Health Care Services Program Administrator, Senior, and Nurse Clinic Coordinator by their responsibility for the entire scope of an assigned clinic or program.
IDEAL CANDIDATE- Leadership skills to supervise Public Health Nursing staff supporting foster youth
- Experience with medically complex or trauma-impacted pediatric populations
- Knowledge of child welfare systems and interagency coordination
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with multidisciplinary partners
- Excellent organizational and case management skills to ensure compliance and quality care
The Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care (HCPCFC) ensures that children and youth in foster care receive coordinated, comprehensive health services. As a public health nursing program, HCPCFC partners with child welfare and probation teams to address medical, dental, mental, and developmental needs. Our team promotes access to health care, supports timely exams and referrals, and helps maintain each child’s Health and Education Passport.
By working closely with caregivers, social workers, and health providers, HCPCFC improves health outcomes and continuity of care for one of our community’s most vulnerable populations. RESPONSIBILITIES- Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
- Directs, coordinates and reviews the work plan for staff; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems; assigns work activities; monitors work flow; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures

- Participates in strategic planning, capacity and resource planning for the program; prepares and analyzes reports and statistical data regarding health care services, investigations, program operations and activities
