Position Summary
The American Sign Language program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person instructional vacancies. The assignment may include classes at the Santa Maria campus, Lompoc Valley Center, or other off-campus sites as needed. Positions may be available during the Fall and Spring semesters and/or summer session.

The teaching assignment will include one or more courses offered in American Sign Language 120 (level
1) or American Sign Language 121 (level
2) or other ASL courses depending on need.
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.
- Use of and inclusion of the college s instructional management system (Canvas).
- Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomical, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and abilities of staff and students.
Any bachelor s degree and two years of professional experience
OR
Any associate degree and six years of professional experience
Desired Qualifications
Master s degree in American Sign Language OR Bachelor s degree in American Sign Language
Additional InformationSALARY
- Lecture Rate: $56.46 to $86.44 per hour depending upon education and experience
- Lab Rate: $49.17 to $75.26 per hour depending upon education and experience
- Activity Rate: $36.33 to $56.69 per hour depending upon education and experience
