Seasonal Assistant-11-160-SC/Santa Maria Corps

Position Summary To work as a social service, you must be able to work with the public, understand and follow instructions quickly, and work with little supervision. You should have good computer skills, be punctual, maintain a positive attitude, and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Functions
  • Input clients into the Well Sky program
  • Conduct client intake
  • Prepare and process donation slips
  • Assist clients with sign‑ups
  • Answer phone calls
  • Provide customer service
  • Register participants for food distribution
  • Assist with special events
  • Prepare food boxes
  • Distribute food during distribution events
  • Assist with seasonal duties such as Christmas Distribution, Kettles, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Officer or Assistant Administrator
Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis; ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files and file cabinet drawers; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.; operate a computer, fax, and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Criminal background check required if working in the vicinity of children, with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army policies, procedures, and programs, and a compassionate understanding and adherence.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
